Palihouse, Santa Monica
I came across this quote the other day, “when you leave a beautiful place, you carry it with you wherever you go.” A real beauty that makes you feel at peace and at home, and can never be forgotten, it can be rare but it is the exact effect the Palihouse had on me. Located in a quiet residential neighborhood right smack dab in the heart of Santa Monica, walking distance to the third street promenade, and three blocks from the ocean. You can taste the ocean breeze. The hotel has 38 furnished rooms, we were lucky enough to stay in one of the most beautiful suites. It feels more like your walking into a warm inviting home than a hotel property. Our room revealed to be quite large. European apartment-sized, with a mid-century kitchenette, tiled washroom, walk-in wardrobe, a vintage vanity (perfect glam station), and grandiose windows with an ocean view, all open to catch the sea breeze. One of my favorite little design details was the wallpaper blueprint. Just takes your breath away. My second favorite part of the hotel would be the history. The building has been meticulously maintained since it’s birth in 1927 and remains renowned for its "elegant exterior, lush courtyards and gracious lobby. It’s an outstanding example of Moorish-influenced Mediterranean Revival Architecture." Booking a suite at the Palihouse in Santa Monica is like renting a home with the perks of staying at a hotel. If you are looking for a quiet retreat with a touch of old Hollywood, the Palihouse is the ideal destination.
